Google Chrome is getting a dedicated AI Mode button on iOS and Android. AI Mode is an AI-powered search solution from Google; think of it like the company’s take on ChatGPT.

Google rolled out AI Mode in Chrome for Windows and Mac earlier this year.

Chrome for iOS gets a smarter AI search shortcut

With AI Mode, Google provides an AI-powered response. This ensures you don’t have to go through several websites to find the information you’re looking for. You can even ask follow-up questions to get more insights into the topic.

AI Mode builds on AI Overviews, which already appear at the top of most Google Search results.

So far, you could only access AI Mode in Chrome on PC. Google is now changing that by adding a dedicated AI Mode button to Chrome’s new tab page on iOS and Android. Powered by Gemini, AI Mode search will help you get answers to complex queries faster.

The new AI Mode button in Chrome will start appearing for Android and iOS users in the US from today. Google will also expand AI Mode to 160 new countries and add support for more languages, including Hindi, Korean, and Portuguese.

AI Mode is Google’s ChatGPT alternative

AI Mode in Search features a chat-style interface where you can ask questions and easily follow up for more details. Think of Search’s AI Mode as Google’s take on ChatGPT. Instead of manually browsing the web to find answers to your queries, AI Mode in Google Search will use Gemini to synthesize the results.
